writing fiction

Help I don't know what I'm doing. I'm trying so hard to write a novel and I have too many ideas and I end up with all Mary Sue characters. It's frustrating. I want to write science fiction too, but I'm afraid I'll end up with something so stupid and not even remotely plausible. Help. Help. Help. Why is fiction so difficult? It shouldn't be. I struggle with writing descriptions. It's like a movie in my head and then when I sit down to type, all words are gone. Argh.

musings

I've spent a week alone in a hotel, and I brought so much work here to do and yet I did so little of it. My motivation is so low. It's hard to change habits you've had for so long. And now I'm distraught after seeing Avengers: Endgame for the first time and honestly I don't know what to do with myself. This was supposed to be a week to reset, but I'm nearing the end, I leave tomorrow, and it feels like I failed. I didn't complete any of the things on my list, and I'm still tired. I'm complacent, and I don't want to be. Yes, I did explore the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore on ...

Science Fiction Movies/Television I Haven't Seen and Should

I'm gonna preface this post by saying the audiobook of Ready Player One  is absolutely the best audiobook I've ever listened to. (This doesn't count full cast radio dramas, of which Narnia and Redwall definitely  top the list.) Wil Wheaton reads it and he's an incredible narrator. I was legit up until 4 am last night listening to it and playing Age of Empires because I completely lost track of time. And had coffee with dinner but we aren't counting that.  So anyway. Even if you've read the book already, I would recommend giving the audio a try. And once I finish listening to it, which will be tonight or tomorrow, I'm excited to watch the movie, even though I know they're very  different from each other. Now, speaking of movies, I decided to take this summer and watch a bunch of science fiction (and some fantasy too) movies and tv shows I really should have seen at this point in my life. I watched Alien  and Blade Runner for the first time a couple mont...
